about me

Who am I?

My name is Alice. I am a follower of Jesus Christ and a woman of many interests. I am also a wife and mother of three. I know what it’s like to have a child born with a disability and also have a child unexpectedly get diagnosed with a disability. I want to help other moms with the emotional journey of having a child or children with disabilities and the lessons God has taught me in the 25 years I’ve raised a child with a disability.  My life isn’t perfect and neither am I, so you won’t find perfection here. But you will find encouragement, hope and a fresh perspective.

Six random facts about me

  • I am an amateur chef, always trying new recipes. My family are my guinea pigs. I mean what else is your family for if they can’t sample your culinary experiments??
  • I am always ready to try new foods. But draw the line on foods like sheep’s eyeballs or raw live octopus tentacles. I am not THAT adventurous.
  • I am a writer, I started young. As a child, I was a playwright. I wrote plays that my cousins and I acted out. My scripts weren’t very good, and sometimes they didn’t have an ending but I’m proud to say they always had a plot. My brother and I once put on a radio show modeled after the radio show The Shadow.  I am quite proud of our production, because not only was I the writer, we were the entire production crew. From the voice actors to the sound engineers, we did it all. I don’t know what happened to that tape (this was before CD’s and mobile phones) or if it still exists but I would love to hear it again.
  • I’m an artist, although I haven’t pursued this in a long time.
  • I love to read. I am what I like to call an equal opportunity reader.  I do not discriminate against genres (although I’m really not into the Romance genre too much). On the whole, if it is well written then I will read it. I even read cookbooks which to me are picture books for adults.
  • I live in the United States and hope to visit all 50 states one day
