Today is the day after Christmas and I’ve decided to take some time and enjoy it with the family. It’s been a super busy season for me. I’ve been running fast and hard since October. Every year I think the next year will be better and in some ways, it is. I plan better. But that doesn’t decrease the lightning-fast pace I find myself in around this season.
I don’t remember life being this hectic when the kids were younger. It seems as soon as they started school, the pace of life has increased dramatically. Something as simple as coordinating schedules is a herculean task. That’s why I treasure moments when we’re all home. When no one has any place to go, no activities to attend or jobs they need to be at and we’re just hanging out. Because this season is so busy for us professionally, for the last several years we don’t even visit family anymore. Instead, we’ve opted for a quiet Christmas at home. And although we miss spending time with our extended family, not having to travel has been physically good. We’ve been enjoying this quiet celebration and being thankful for it. It’s one of those perfect moments (read more about that here) filled with laughter, craziness and a lot of coziness. And after the chaos of the last few months, it’s a welcome reprieve.
Wishing all of you perfect moments this holiday season whether that’s spending time with extended or just immediate family.
